University of Maryland Receives Gates Foundation Grant to Combat Typhoid

by Alice Lee December 2, 2016

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded a $36.9 million grant to an international consortium led by the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Center for Vaccine Development to accelerate the introduction of typhoid conjugate vaccines. The new Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium, which includes the Oxford Vaccine Group at the University of Oxford and PATH, will generate data for decision-making around vaccine introduction and evaluate the success of vaccine rollout in early adopter countries with the goal to reduce the burden of typhoid. Read more about this exciting new project!
