‘Frightening’ drug-resistant strain of typhoid spreads in Pakistan

  • A strain of Salmonella Typhi resistant to all but one antibiotic is spreading in Pakistan, where over 2,000 people have been infected in the past six months. This is the first outbreak of extensively drug-resistant typhoid, and experts are concerned it will spread to other countries.
