Conference Travel

Hotel 

The conference will be held at the Kigali Marriott Hotel. Discounted rates are available and must be booked by October 31, 2023. As an alternative, the Four Points by Sheraton is available and located across the street from the conference venue. Free cancelations are available up to 3 days prior to arrival.  

Visa 

Nationals of all countries can receive visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders. Those who wish to apply for an E-Visa prior to travel may do so via the Government of Rwanda website. All travelers to Rwanda are required to hold a passport with more than 6 months of validity.  

Citizens of countries members to the following international organizations; African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie are waived visa fees for a visit of 30 days. 

The following countries to be granted 90 days valid visa free of charge upon arrival: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, The Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Mauritius, Philippines, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Singapore and the state Qatar. 

Travel awards 

The Coalition against Typhoid is pleased to offer a limited number of travel awards to individuals working in the typhoid, paratyphoid, and invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella field to attend and participate in the 13th International Conference on Typhoid and Other Invasive Salmonelloses. Presenters of oral and poster abstracts as well as invited symposium and plenary presenters who would be unable to attend the conference without financial assistance are eligible to apply. 

Priority will be given to speakers from low- and middle-income countries. Awardees are selected through a competitive process based on abstract quality, demonstrated commitment to research or advocacy in the field, and written and spoken proficiency in English. 

Terms of the Award 

The travel award includes: 

  • Hotel (accommodations at the conference hotel) 
  • Flight (airfare at lowest fare available, from the nearest international airport) 
  • Visa on arrival 
  • Per diem (modest food and living allowance) 

Please note that the travel award does not cover the costs of obtaining or renewing a passport. 

Application 

The application will include a short personal statement (250 words) describing how your participation in the conference would benefit your organization, community, and/or the field of typhoid and other invasive salmonelloses. Applications will open in mid-August and close September 30, 2023.
