Current Research

CaT is leading an ongoing study to improve disease estimates for typhoid and paratyphoid in Asia. The Surveillance for Enteric Fever in Asia Project (SEAP) is tracking typhoid incidence and severity in four countries:

  • Nepal
  • Pakistan
  • Bangladesh
  • India

A similar project, the Severe Typhoid in Africa (SETA) Program led by the International Vaccine Institute, is conducting research in sub-Saharan Africa. SETA is currently operating in:

  • Ghana
  • Burkina Faso
  • Ethiopia
  • Madagascar
  • DRC
  • Nigeria
  • Kenya
