Depending on which passport you carry, where you live and how long you intend to stay, there are various types of visas available for Vietnam and a variety of ways to obtain them. The information provided below is current as of time of publication.
Residents of certain countries carrying certain types of passports are exempt and require no visa to enter Vietnam. Please use this link to check current exemptions.
Residents of 46 countries are able to apply online for an e-visa. Applicants must apply from outside of Vietnam and pay the fee online. The estimated processing time is 3 working days. Please use this link to check if your country is eligible for an E-Visa.
Visa on Arrival
Those not eligible for an E-Visa may apply for Visa on Arrival through any accredited Vietnamese travel agency. Each agency will set their own terms and conditions and this service is only available for those arriving via air to Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi or Da Nang. The travel agency issues you a confirmation letter, which you will use to formally apply for a visa upon arrival to Vietnam. The costs for obtaining the visa at the airport are separate from the costs you pay the travel agency for the confirmation letter.
