Abstract

In September 2005, I departed for an 8-week mission in Liberia with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), a multinational medical humanitarian organization. Liberia has suffered through nearly 20 years of civil wars and has little infrastructural or health care resources. Here I describe MSF and Liberia, the mission site, the practice of anesthesia, and the patients we treated.
