About the Conference:
The Coalition against Typhoid was pleased to host the 10th International Conference on Typhoid and Other Invasive Salmonelloses from April 4–6, 2017, in Kampala, Uganda. The theme of the conference was “From Evidence to Action,” as the conference aimed to invigorate the response to typhoid, paratyphoid and invasive non-typhoidal Salmonella (iNTS) disease by:
- Bringing together the world’s experts to advance knowledge, present new research and promote scientific collaborations around the world
- Setting the stage for the new typhoid conjugate vaccines (TCVs)
- Advancing a clear agenda for preventing typhoid, paratyphoid and iNTS including the cross-cutting issues of water, sanitation and hygiene, urbanization, environment and equity
- Building partnerships between science, government and businesses to strengthen typhoid, paratyphoid and iNTS prevention and control efforts

Location:
The conference was hosted at the Kampala Serena International Conference Centre in Kampala, Uganda. Located in the heart of Kampala, the Serena International Conference Centre is central to many hotels, restaurants and area attractions. Learn more about accommodations, visas and visiting Kampala.

The conference consisted of three full days of cutting-edge programming. View the full conference program, presentations from the conference, videos of sessions and participant list. Additionally, there were two evening receptions open to participants:
- Tuesday, 4 April: Welcome Reception with remarks from Honorable Dr. Jane Aceng, Uganda’s Minister of Health
- Wednesday, 5 April: #TakeOnTyphoid with TyVAC: A reception to launch the new Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium

Conference Structure:
Over the course of three days, participants had the chance to attend plenary sessions, oral and poster abstract sessions and symposia. Abstract submission is now closed.
- All posters for presentation must be a width 90 cm (36″) and a height 130 cm (51″).
- Authors are responsible for printing and bringing their own poster with them to the conference. Conference organizers will not be able to print posters on-site.
- Conference organizers will provide free-standing panels/easels and push pins to hang posters.
- Each presenter has 10 minutes for presentation followed by five minutes for questions
- PowerPoint version 2007 or newer is supported. Please use 4:3 as the presentation format. Do not use special fonts
- Final presentations should be submitted to Brian Shaw via email at brian.shaw@sabin.org or by flash drive at the Secretariat Office by 12:00pm one day prior to your scheduled presentation.
Plenary Presentation Guidelines
- Each presenter has 15 minutes for their presentation. Following all session presentations, the moderators will facilitate questions and dialogue with the audience
- PowerPoint version 2007 or newer is supported. Please use 4:3 as the presentation format. Do not use special fonts
- Final presentations should be submitted to Brian Shaw via email at brian.shaw@sabin.org or by flash drive at the Secretariat Office by 12:00pm one day prior to your scheduled presentation
- Check with the chairs of your symposium for the time allotted to your presentation.
- PowerPoint version 2007 or newer is supported. Please use 4:3 as the presentation format. Do not use special fonts
- Final presentations should be submitted to Brian Shaw via email at brian.shaw@sabin.org or by flash drive at the Secretariat Office by 12:00pm one day prior to your scheduled presentation
Moderator/Symposium Chair Guidelines
- Review with each speaker their allotted time, order of presentation, session format and how time warnings will be indicated
- Briefly introduce the session topic and format and introduce each speaker between presentations
- Keep the presentations on time
