The Coalition against Typhoid (CaT) was launched one year ago to raise awareness of the tremendous public health burden related to typhoid, a disease with a disproportionate impact upon children living in poverty.
Our objective is to do something about typhoid, now.
CaT is a global forum of scientists and public health experts working to expedite and sustain evidence-informed decisions regarding the use of typhoid vaccination to prevent childhood enteric fever. The Sabin Vaccine Institute serves as the secretariat of CaT through a three-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. CaT does not have a substantial operating budget and relies upon the collective, cooperative activities of its members to fully support its work plan.
At the core of our mission is a responsibility to provide a voice for communities impacted by typhoid, to better define and increase awareness of the burden of typhoid at the global, regional and national levels, and to foster the use of existing vaccines and the development of innovative next generation vaccines.
Participation in CaT is open to any institution interested in contributing to the prevention and control of typhoid fever. Please contact the CaT Secretariat directly: email@example.com
