Líneas de Acción 8: Coordinacion y Gestión

Coordinate and manage the development, implementation and updating of the CaT Work Plan

The Coalition against Typhoid Secretariat is hosted at the Sabin Vaccine Institute in Washington, DC. The Secretariat was tasked by CaT members to develop and implement the Coalition workplan, conduct advocacy and communications activities on behalf of CaT, and mobilize resources to support CaT activities.

CaT aims to foster collaboration at the global, regional and national levels in order to expand access to safe, effective and affordable typhoid vaccines and deliver life-saving protection to children at risk. As outlined in the Coalition workplan, CaT will:

  • Advance a comprehensive and an integrated typhoid control strategy in endemic countries through sustained advocacy, consultation, collaboration, and coordination;
  • Facilitate rational, evidence-based, and sustainable decisions regarding the use of typhoid vaccines;

  • Assist countries with the implementation and monitoring of typhoid vaccination programs;
  • Promote research and development of next generation typhoid and new paratyphoid vaccines and improved diagnostics; and
  • Contribute to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by helping to reduce childhood illness and mortality in typhoid-high burden communities, ensuring children in typhoid-high burden communities are healthy enough to attend school, and bringing together resources and technical assistance to prevent typhoid infection in the world’s least-developed countries.
